I don't talk FlightRising often because it's kinda something I do with my sister, so it's closer to "IRL" than "fandom" for me—but as someone in Light who recently celebrated her tenth anniversary on the site, the complaints I keep seeing about our new Everlux babies are ridiculous.
Light is the flight with the dragon breed whose bodies can and will fuse together into a horrible undead monster if too many of them are killed in a single location and their corpses aren't removed or destroyed quickly enough. Our other modern breed eats its own eggshell after hatching, as soon as it's able to chew, and then spits it back up in the form of a pearl that it just kinda carries around for the rest of its life. Why is the magical draconic caterpillar too much?
You don't have to like the design, but this is ludicrous. You don't have to keep them. I don't keep Ridgebacks because I don't like how they look. I promise no one is going to arrest you for not having the "right" dragon PNGs in your lair.
For the love of Glittermom, pick up your eggs from Galore, hatch them, then sell them. I don't think the babies are clanbound, are they? Just the eggs? (Correct me if I'm wrong on this.) Someone who wants them gets first-gen Everluxes, you get paid, everyone goes home happy.

First time staying at the hotel of a theme park (against my will, but that's a long story) and... it's so weird??????
Like I feel like I am not supposed to be here, how do I put it... it screams luxury but I a... childlike/childish way????
And I feel restless, like something is wrong. Uncanny.
#this vacation is weird#maybe i feel restless because it cost me too much...#little rant here because i am still bitter about this okay...#look 8 days in spain and EVERYTHING: 2 hotels/3 flights/several museums/foods and drinks/souvenirs/transportation/small useless trinkets#cost us like € 800? more or less?#like okay could have been less but that’s a darn good price counting small useless luxuries and good meals right?#i feel no regrets spending that amount of money on *that*#i was one of the people organizing it#i knew where my money went before it went there so if something was a waste of money is my fault right????#BUT THEN#i was thrown into this other small 4 day vacation here at one of the theme parks in italy#first day we arrive fourth we go 2 days at the park and the only things we DON'T pay for are breakfast and dinner#fucking €600#and I was occupied with my exams when the other person organized this trip so the moment they called me.and said#“okay already anticipated the money it's 600 per person :D”#i cried#liek i am not exaggerating i literally cried because wtf#600 euros I'd have stayed a week in france#I will never let someone else organize a vacation without my supervision ever the fuck again.#steel rambles#*cries* 1200 € for two peple and 2 and 2 days at the theme park+ 2 days of train is not fucking reasonable mate 😭

everyone in the first age is so young and absolutely no one’s prepared for it. i think if i think about this too long i’m going to cry.
#tolkien#i consulted a second age timeline today and it got me right in the feelings#to be clear i'm assuming a reasonable valian-to-solar year conversion rate (i.e. 10 rather than the ~144 that tolkien later goes with)#partially because. you know. probably the flight of the noldor does not take 700 solar years.#i sure hope it doesn't at least#but like. say we use ~10 as our conversion rate.#anyone born circa Y.T. 1300 is just about 2600 by the end of the first age (if they get there)#and then the second age is 800 years longer than all of that#and like. they're by and large not hitting the first age with '2000 years dealing with the shadow'#they're hitting it with '2000 years during which the biggest dispute was feanor threatening fingolfin'#*one person* has died (prior to finwe)#*no one* knows what they're doing#and now the lights are out and everyone you know and love is suffering and dying#hardly anyone makes it out#by the time we hit the 2000th year of the sun we're still about ten years out from the rings of power being forged#it'll be nearly 2000 more years before the end of the second age#i don't know man this just *got* to me#correct me if my timelines are way off by the way; this is back-of-the-envelope
